Thelonious Monk

Monk was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on October 10, 1917 and died in Englewood, New Jersey on February 17, 1982 from a stroke. He was active from the 1940s to the 1970s and his musical styles include bop, hard bop, modal music, post-bop, mainstream jazz, modern big band, piano jazz, and progressive jazz.
