Dolly Parton is an American singer-songwriter, actress, and philanthropist known for her country music career. Parton has released over 60 albums, including Rockstar, Trio, and Dumplin’. Her styles include country-pop, traditional country, country-folk, urban cowboy, contemporary country, honky tonk, and progressive country

She was born on January 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge, Tennessee.

Parton’s musical influences include traditional Appalachian folk, country, and bluegrass music. Her earliest recorded song, “Puppy Love”, shows her mastery of the Hank Williams and Kitty Wells honky-tonk style. In 1967, she became a duet partner and solo recording artist for The Porter Wagoner Show’s host, and her first solo #1 hit was “Joshua” in 1971. Parton has 44 career Top 10 country albums, a record for any artist. 

Parton has also achieved success in pop music, acting, business, and philanthropy. She owns Dollywood, a frontier-themed amusement park in rural Tennessee, and Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort & Spa in the Smoky Mountains.
